Merck KGaA has implemented the Bluecrux laboratory scheduling technology, Binocs™, at its Calais site as part of an ongoing rollout of the software across its laboratory network. This deployment makes Calais the 11th Merck KGaA site to use Binocs to support their efforts to standardize laboratory planning across multiple locations.
Headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany, Merck KGaA is a global science and technology company active in healthcare, life science, and electronics. The company operates a broad network of pharmaceutical laboratories across its global manufacturing and testing footprint, which spans more than 55 sites worldwide. Digital tools play an important role in supporting planning and coordination across their sites responsible for testing, validating, and ensuring the safety and quality of products delivered worldwide.
At Calais, Binocs is used to support laboratory scheduling, to provide greater visibility into day‑to‑day planning, and to enable the KPI reporting that helps teams manage workload priorities and due dates. The site is scheduled to extend its use of the technology, with the Capacity Planning module planned for adoption in July, adding longer‑term workload and resource visibility. In parallel, Merck KGaA’s Meyzieu site is also preparing to implement Binocs Scheduling later this year, which will bring the total number of live sites to twelve.
“Merck was one of the first customers to start working with Binocs, and the journey began seven to eight years ago” said Clément Dupont, the Senior Implementation Consultant for Binocs. “Today, eleven Merck sites are live, with Calais being the latest to implement the Scheduling module, and further rollouts already planned.”
