Bluecrux Publishes Digital Capacity Planning White Paper Co-Authored With Merck KGaA
New paper draws on eight years of collaboration and fifteen years of implementation experience to examine what separates successful capacity management programs from those that stall.

Bluecrux today published Digital Transformation in Pharmaceutical Capacity Management, a white paper co-authored with long-time partner Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. The paper is now available for download at https://www.bluecrux.com/whitepapers/digital-transformation-in-pharmaceutical-capacity-management-binocs/.
The paper draws on fifteen years of capacity management programs delivered by Bluecrux, including eight years of collaboration with Merck KGaA, where Bluecrux’s planning technology Binocs™ has been implemented across more than 120 teams at 15 sites globally. Rather than presenting digital transformation as a technology upgrade, it argues that outcomes depend on execution discipline: organisations that treat capacity planning as a cross-functional operating model challenge consistently outperform those that approach it as a tool selection exercise.
“Capacity management fails quietly until it becomes the constraint,” said Ben Van Lancker, Vice President of Binocs Technology, Bluecrux. “This paper is built for leaders who want capacity decisions that hold up under real-world operational pressure. It is grounded in what we have seen work (and fail) at scale.”
The white paper follows a series of invite-only Cutting X Connect masterclasses held in Basel, Princeton, and Dublin, which brought together more than 40 senior QC and supply chain leaders, including representatives from six of the world’s top ten pharmaceutical companies. On March 31, 2026, Bluecrux will host a 20-minute webinar distilling the most actionable lessons from the masterclass series and the research behind the paper.
